Matt and Lauren were two random strangers that met on the internet in 2019 as they answered a random Instagram ad calling for craft beer lovers to share photos of beer. As Covid slowly came in and shut down the world they, along with two others decided to start a podcast with the goal of talking to breweries across the world and raising money for charities of their choices.
As they began, Matt and Lauren would often go off on tangents about random pop-culture topics which led to the duo beginning a spinoff show called Hops Geek News. Their mission was to discuss the latest in pop-culture news to keep listeners up to date on the latest happenings from the geek world. Additionally, they loved to share what they have been reading and watching in hopes that others would find their new favorite movie, show, or comic book. To top it off they added in having a main topic of the week which allowed them to deep dive into anything from comic character origins to movies.
The show evolved as they began to be invited as media to conventions such as Fan Ex Salt Lake City where they interviewed the Clerks cast to Megacon Orlando, and more. Their coverage of the events showcased the versatility and uniqueness of some of the biggest conventions in America. They have since done various panels across the United States and continue to be dedicated in sharing the world of comic books, movies, TV shows, and comic cons with the world.
